Spotted: Rodriguez “Six Pack” 20 inch Touring Bike
Spotted this while checking out the BikeForums touring board (posted by BengeBoy). It’s a 20-inch collapsible touring bike made by Rodriguez bicycles. It doesn’t fold like a BikeFriday or Dahon, but instead it comes apart via SS couplers. Lots of them.
Why not just fold instead of the hassle of the SS couplers? The reasoning is that by maintaining the diamond frame design of a traditional bicycle, you don’t compromise the handling and responsiveness of the bicycle. I’d love to try it out (as I’m sure many of us would), but alas, the bike is not cheap. The frame and fork start at $2999 with a full super zoot Rolhoff build that costs about $6300 - roughly the cost of two nicely equipped Bike Friday NWTs.

That is super cool. I love the shot on the website with all the frame pieces in a bucket haha.
speaking of folding bikes, i saw a used dahon at my local bike recyclery today and ALMOST made an impulse purchase as it was only around $200, which seemed like a good deal. but perhaps dahon makes some low-end bikes…anyhow, appreciate the info, thanks for your great site.
It’s my bike–I had R&E build it last fall and have put almost 2000 miles on it. I have ridden Dahons and Bike Fridays, but this bike feels like my 26″ wheeled tourer.
