The Epicurean Cyclist

Wool, Twine and All Things Fine

Spotted: E-P1

As you know, I really really like the LX3. Really. But the soon to be released Olympus E-P1 is waking in me an unfamiliar feeling…gear lust! Check out this link from 43rumors.com!

It looks like it could be every rangefinder geek’s dream. Right off the bat there’s a lot to like. It’s small. It takes interchangeable lenses using the micro 4/3 system. It’s not a far flung thought that all my Leica M-glass that have been laying dormant for the last two years will have a new body to play with.

The next scheduled announcement will be June 16th. I’m waiting with bated breath hoping that this camera will be worth the hype. Conspicuously missing from many photos I’ve seen of the E-P1 are manual dials. A real bummer. I’m hoping the final iteration will be more knobs and dials than joysticks and buttons.

  1. The Panasonic G1 with an adapter will work with your legacy Leica lenses NOW. Might be a good option for you to consider for your trip.
